Have you looked around lately? I want to, hopefully, be the first to coin a term " multi-generational baby boom". I was in a restaurant the other day, my girlfriend noticed that all the tables around us had babies. All the babies looked to be under 2-3 months old, it was the parents that interested me. one set looked to be in their 20's the other 2 couples in thier late 30's and one couple in their late 40's. In fact, the last couple looked old enough to be the parents of the first couple.
I see stats about people getting married later in life and others are on their second one. So mix that with the younger people in their 20's getting marriedafter college and I see 3 generations having babies at the same time. Even that lady that just had a kid at age 57!
Now I know it has always happened, but I think the numbers are growing. So anyway, Think about the interesting boom this will make for baby products how they are viewed by the parents and the variety of products. Each parent will have a real different take on their childhood, which we all know, is applied directly to how the baby is raised.
Think of what will happen when the children get to the classroom. They will be in a class with some kids whose parents fought in Vietnam, others whose grandparents fought in vietnam, and others who think Vietnam is just the plot of an Oliver Stone movie! Some children will be taught that "bread lines" were only found at the local Panera, Some parents will not know what an 8-track tape is , others will remember working at the record store selling them. Should Geratol and Flinstones vitamins do a cross promotion? Imagine.
Do I have a point? Points are for game shows and press releases. Just my observations. I think there is a way to cash in on this and on another level it will be interesting to see classrooms filled with Children indoctrinated by 3 different generations.
